Review of Skillet's album "Awake" by axelpwnsuall on Gaia Online
So, I own the Official Skillet Guild on Gaia Online, www.gaiaonline.com, and one of the guild members posted a review of Awake in the forums. I really liked how the review was simple and straight forward, and easy to understand. The user who posted this goes by the username axelpwnsuall and I wanted to share his review with everyone here, and he said I could, so here you go. Enjoy!
"Hero~ 10/10; Fast guitar, good lyrics and vocals; their first single off this album, what's not to love? I feel like everyone can relate to this song at least once.
Monster~ 10/10; The second single, pretty much the opposite of Hero, a tad dark, but extremely well delivered. I also feel like anyone can relate to this song.
Don't wake me~ 10/10; A beautiful song that has a touch of sadness to it.
Awake and Alive 10/10; Next to forgiven i'd have to say the most Christian song on the album, and to top it off it rocks.
One day too late~ 10/10; They sing about how people make mistakes in life, and how to make their lives better "Today i'm gonna love my enemies, reach out to someone who needs me, make a change, make the world a, better place"
It's not me it's you~ 10/10; The "Looking-back-i-can-see-its-all-your-fault" song
Should've when you could've~ 10/10; "I'm-done-with-this" Song.
Believe~ 10/10; "If you believed, when i said, i'd be better off without you, then you never really knew me at all" That pretty much sums up this song.
Forgiven~ 10/10; The most Christian song on the album in my opinion, it sounds like John is asking God to forgive him, and is reliving his past mistakes that God has also forgiven
Sometimes ~ 10/10; "I-don't-really-care-anymore" Song on the album
Never Surrender~ 10/10; Theres no real way to describe this song, other than its amazing.
Lucy~ 10/10; A great song, shows that we shouldn't take things for granted.
OVERALL CD: 10/10; what can i say? I'm obsessed with this album, whether its softer rock i need, or some loud guitars, Awake's got it. It's impossible for me to pick a favorite song, because i would just pick the whole album (obviously). If you liked their previous album, then you will love this, because Awake, in my opinion, is ten times greater than Comatose. softer songs, (ex. don't wake me) mixed in with songs like It's not me It's you, make for a large variety of sounds on this album. "
